GSA’s Training for University Excellence (TrUE) program is a supplementary enrichment and advisory program that GSA offers jointly with U.S. colleges and universities to prepare and support international students entering their first year at the university. Each student is partnered with a mentor/advisor who meets with the student to provide comprehensive guidance, support, and preparation for both academics and life. The TrUE program provides first-year international students, both undergraduate and graduate, one-on-one advising, volunteer opportunities, and extracurricular activities to achieve students’ holistic success. This has a positive impact on the students’ cultural and educational adjustment, engagement academically and socially, and success.

The program also offers pre-departure training to prepare the student for college admission, college life, and life in America, which includes test-prep (TOEFL and others), English-language training, application guidance and assistance, and additional college counseling as needed. The pre-departure program includes important information on safety, culture, academics, housing, and life.
